The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) started in the early 1970s at Purdue University. Its mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. The vision is for engineering to be a common topic in homes of color, inspiring Black students to see themselves as engineers. In this vision, engineering is a mainstream word in homes and communities of color, and all Black students can envision themselves as engineers. In this world, Blacks exceed parity in entering engineering fields, earning degrees, and succeeding professionally. The New York Capital Region NSBE Professional chapter was created to pursue this vision by building a network of local professionals to support the community. The chapter focuses on:

  • Leadership Development

  • Mentoring

  • Networking

  • Community Outreach

All efforts will promote STEM careers and skills to underrepresented communities in the Capital Region while offering networking and development opportunities for students and professionals. This is a new chapter, so stay tuned for updates on leadership, charter, and upcoming events!
